Advanced Waterproofing Solutions

With the SikaMembran® system, Sika introduces the next generation of thin, durable, and sustainable foil membranes for the waterproofing of facades. The SikaMembran® System is designed for both interior and exterior applications, providing a reliable vapor barrier at critical connections between building elements. Perfect for use in curtain walls, rear-ventilated glass and metal facades, and window installations, SikaMembran® ensures long-lasting protection and performance for modern building designs.

The system consists of the adhesive Sikaflex®-525, a low-emission and isocyanate-free one-component sealant based on STP, and the extremely thin EPDM hybrid foils SikaMembran®-800 Permeable and SikaMembran-820 Allround. With just 0.3 mm thickness, the next generation of SikaMembran® features four times more tensile strength and tear propagation and 50% lesser ecological footprint than compared to standard EPDM membranes.

Fire Safety Technologies

Sika expands its product range with innovative solutions for intelligent passive fire protection. Introducing a unique set of products—Palusol®, Palusol® SW, Interdens®, and Exterdens®—designed to significantly enhance the fire resistance of building components such as windows and doors. These advanced solutions ensure superior protection and safety, setting a new benchmark in passive fire protection for modern construction.

Palusol has been the market leader in intumescent silicate boards for over 60 years and has been part of the Sika family since the takeover of the MBCC Group. The fire protection boards foam up when heat is generated, expanding under pressure. The foam that is created fills gaps and crevices, preventing fire and smoke from spreading to other rooms.

Palusol SW sandwich panels have been specially developed for the production of fire doors made of wood-based materials and for use in fire protection walls. The different combinations of high-density fiberboard (HDF) and Palusol fire protection boards achieve a high component rigidity and fire resistance of up to 90 minutes.

The Interdens® product range includes factory-made sheet and roll products that expand without pressure at a very early stage at 150°C (up to 95 times of its original volume) and form a microporous heat-insulating foam. In the event of fire, Interdens® products protect against smoke and flame flashover, particularly in the area of metal door fittings, glazing and building component edges.

Exterdens® foams with an inflation pressure of up to 10 bar at 150°C or 200°C and forms a microporous heat-insulating foam in the event of fire, achieving foaming factors of up to 25 of its original volume.  With the aid of graphite technology and the resulting inflation pressure, Exterdens® can also be used in a concealed manner, for example under veneer, and also in areas exposed to moisture.

Strategic Partnership

The integration of Sika's structural adhesives, Sikasil® SG-500 and Sikasil® SG-20, in the new Schüco facade system approvals (AWS 114 SG & SG.SI and FWS 50/60 SG & SG.SI) enables the bonding of facade elements without the need for mechanical safety devices beyond 8 meters in height. This innovative solution offers enhanced design flexibility and efficiency, streamlining the installation process while maintaining the highest standards of safety and performance for modern building facades. The  facade systems are granted the “Allgemeine Bauartgenehmigung” by the DIBt (Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik).

The silicone adhesive Sikasil® SG-500 is a two-component, high-modulus and neutral-curing adhesive that is used for structural glazing applications. It has an outstanding UV and weathering resistance and meets relevant industry standards such as ASTM, EOTA, or CSTB. Beyond that, the product contributes to the LEED green building rating system and is CE-marked.

Sikasil® SG-20 is a one-component, neutral-curing structural glazing silicone adhesive, which combines high mechanical strength with high elongation. It adheres excellent to a wide range of substrates, such as glass, metals, coated metals, plastics, and wood. This adhesive also complies with ASTM, EOTA, CSTB standards, contributes to the LEED green building rating system and is provided with the CE marking.
