Sika supports the occupants' need for security in the building with many adhesive solutions. Sika adhesives significantly help increase the security class - RC Classification - of windows and balcony doors.

Burglar Proof Windows and Doors

Windows and doors are obviously the weak points in a building through which forced entry should be prevented or at least made as difficult as possible. The type and construction of the window can be chosen in such a way that they must meet the requirements of the European standards or achieve a classification.

Such constructions are classified according to EN 1627 "Pedestrian doors, windows, curtain walls, grilles and shutters“ - Burglar resistance, requirements and classification. This comprises six classes of burglar resistance: from RC1 to RC6. They determine the extent to which a construction can resist the attempt of forced entry with different tools and different forces.

Even with the use of laminated glass, burglar-resistant hardware, one weak point remains - the possibility of levering the glass out of the frame.

For exactly this reason, Sika offers a range of tested and proven adhesives, including the unique solution Sikasil® WT-66 PowerCure adhesive that forms a tough elastic bond between the glass and the frame. A burglar will have difficulty levering the glued glass out of the frame.

Sika PowerCure adhesive for Burglar Resistant Windows

Flexible, Precise and Efficient

Sikasil® WT-66 PowerCure is an accelerated one-component silicone adhesive for window bonding and other bonding applications requiring excellent resistance to UV radiation, weathering and high temperatures.

Sikasil® WT-66 PowerCure is designed for burglar-resistant windows as it cures even in the absence of humidity, in the narrow gap between the insulating glass and the window frame, regardless of the joint depth.

It is based on the innovative Sika® PowerCure technology and combines the advantages of one and two component adhesives: It cures quickly while being easy to handle. The application of Sikasil® WT-66 PowerCure is done with the PowerCure dispenser and the PowerCure mixers.

As the PowerCure dispenser is battery-operated, no additional equipment such as compressed air or high voltage current is needed. Thus Sikasil® WT-66 PowerCure is ideally suited for mobile work such as on-site glazing and window repair.

PowerCure is the latest technology for one-component, moisture-curing adhesives from Sika. This means that accelerated systems can now also be processed quickly and flexibly for manual applications. The PowerCure adhesive system is as powerful and precise as a modern pumping and dispensing system used in industrial production. It consists of a processing unit, the PowerCure Dispenser, a low-waste dynamic mixer and an innovative packaging concept.

Sika PowerCure

Safety first with Burglary Proof Systems

Sika’s silicone technology is the reliable base for Sika’s window adhesives: glass edge, rebate and overlap bonding. Sikasil® WT silicone adhesives are extremely weathering resistant, adhere well to many frame materials with minimal pre-treatment. Furthermore Sikasil® WT products are tested and approved for

compatibility with the most important insulating glass sealants on the market. Tests have been performed according to EN 1627 and the high requirements of resistance class RC 3.

REQUIREMENTS AND ADVANTAGES

The adhesive is applied between the window profile and the insulating glass unit on the rebate. Adhesion and compatibility between insulating glass sealant and adhesive must be given.

  • For automated or manual application of the adhesive

  • Safety glass pane is oriented to the outside

  • Focus on fast and complete curing, therefore 2-component

Sikasil® WT-66 PowerCure adhesive and dispensing System

The PowerCure dispensing and packaging platform combines the ease of use of a 1-component adhesive application with the benefits of a 2-component adhesive application. The PowerCure system is as powerful and reliableas industrial pump and dispensing systems. Sikasil® WT-66 PowerCure consists of amoisture-curing 1-component adhesive that

is accelerated by booster paste and allows for full cure without the influence of humidity. Sikasil® WT-66 PoweCure is therefore particularly suitable for glass bonding in window construction, especially for burglar resistance windows where the insulating glass is firmly bonded to the frame in a narrow, closed space e.g. rebate bonding.

PowerCure, Sika’s award-winning dispensing and adhesive technology brings several benefits

Faster

Charge the dispenser in only 10 seconds

Output

Twice as fast as cartridge application, similar speed aspump dispenser.

Less Waste

Reduce packaging waste by up to 60%.

Material Cost

Up to 3 times less adhesive residue in the packaging and mixers than with conventional dispensing systems.

Processing

A mechanical single drive together with the dynamic mixer ensures perfect dosing of the adhesive and thus precise control of the output quantity.

Mobile and Flexible

Ready anywhere, no power or air supply required. For mobile application e.g. repair and on construction site.
